M14, E2 Stock

I have an E2 stock, Looks neat but does it shoot better? I would need to refinish it before I can use it. Guess what I am asking.. Should I keep it or sell????

    the minute you refinish it, youll destroy its value. any class 3 guy would pay a quick 2 or 300.00 if its right and unmarred. it does absolutley nothing to help the gun shoot better. the creation of the stock was intended to help control the gun in full auto and to allow the gun to be fired as a supress fire squad gun in prone position. the m-243 and m-60 made that need go away. the plastic stocks gave better performance for accuracy than the wood ones to begin with. so, if youre not a class 3 owner, i'd sell it.

    I have one that I've semi refinished. My stock was a little dirty and a bit sticky. I used Minwax Antique Furniture Refinisher, this basically removed the stock oil, it came off in the color red. This will not remove stains in the stock, you would have to sand it to do that and I do not recommend sanding as this will affect the value. Once you remove the stock oil you will need to re-oil it, I used varathane natural oil finish made by Flecto, the military used boiled linseed oil. If you use tung oil or tru oil this will make it shine like clear paint (not recommended).
    It would be best not to alter the stock unless it is in need of repair. Stocks that have been used heavily in full auto fire tend to show cracks in the grip, the military does repair these (see www.fredsm14stocks.com ).

    Thanks !! When I got the stock it had a lite sanding on it, thats why I said I need to refinish it before I would use it.
