We would put that out for sale at around $275 in the shop I work at.

At a shop - the $275 sounds right. Private party, maybe $25 - $50 less.

It is an outstanding weapon, but if you're going to shoot full-house mags all the time, durability will be an issue. For that purpose, Smith developed the L frame.

There are people (which would certainly include myself) who would be willing to pay more than $275 for it. The way I view pistols like that, (not withstanding that I think the model 19 is the greatest actioned factory revolver EVER) is that it's hard to come by one in such condition, so I would be willing to pay some extra money for it, and just keep it the way it is, although it's not per say a collectors item. You're lucky to have such a weapon.

I have seen them new in box like that from 300-400. 19-4 were introduced in 1977. I dont know if it is a good investment...but they are about the best damn shooters you will ever have. If you dont want it...i am sure that it would sell pretty quickly
