mini 14 accuracy

I heard that if you take the upper gas block off and polish it on a smooth flat service it would increase accuracy . any truth to this ? How does it increase accuracy. Thanks Steve

    Been a while since I've been on here, but I am sure there are still smart folks around. So here is the question. Is (are) there any fairly simple tricks to accurizing a Mini-14? I have bought and sold 4 of the darn things over the years, but want one because I like them. So, since the ones I had were generally poor shooters, are there any tricks?
