MecGar Magazines (.45)
I have 2 magazines (single stack, 8 shot, .45)that have cracked at the rear at the base of the feed lip, in exactly the same place. I don't think I abused them - factory ammo and reloads (brass was full-length resized prior to loading and the Kimber gobbled them up without a problem).
I have sent an e-mail to MecGar asking if I can just buy mag bodies to replace what I have. Alternatively, I asked about a warranty (probably voided by reloads). No response.
Price isn't a big issue (well, it is, but it could have been worse), but I'm a little ticked at both quality control and customer response.
Anyone else have this problem?

How much do you shoot? I probably have 5-10,000 rounds each through my mecgars for my cz's.

I've had bad luck with MecGar 1911 mags there other designs seem to be fine being that they manufacture most of the fatory mags. I've since switched to all Wilson 1911 mags for both my Kimber and my Colt.

I agree with drobs, wilson mags are the way to go!

Wilson mags are used by Army Spec Ops units, FBI, Swat, etc.

A firearms manufacturer near where I live has a box of about 46 Mec-Gar 7rd. 1911-A1 magazines. They all have a crack, almost all of which are in the upper left rear corner. They used to use Mec-Gar as their original equiptment magazines, but have since switched to Metalform mags. Some of these cracks appeared after only 16 to 21 rds. of 230 gr. factory ball. However, In fairness to Mec-Gar, the only ones that had that problem were the nickel plated ones. I have not heard of any blued Mec-Gar 1911-A1 mags or any of their magazines for other types of pistols that have failed in any way. It may be that they heat treated a run of mag tubes too hard and the nickeling process made them brittle. Anyone else out there have a problem with Mec-Gar's cracking?
