Would appreciate comments on the Springfield XD, 9mm specifically. Thanks in advance

The overall consideration of the XD is quite favorable. Price, features and quality seem to put this near the Glock. The only thing is that the Glock still has the market share, aftermarket accessories and the long term proven reliabillity. If you just want a decent polymer, the XD is worth a look and a rental to see if it works good for you.

I've got one. Shoots extremely accurately. I practice shooting at 15 meters, and have no problems hitting the target. I really like this gun!

I recently got an XD in 40S&W. I find it shoots VERY well and is quite natural to hold. Feed is very smooth, and the easyglide clips make swapping out clips very fast. Probably the shortest learning curve I've ever had with an autoloader. Definitely recommended.

I looked at it, but went with SW99, I believe the XD was not available in CA.

You will be well protected by an XD.

I own XD's in both 9 and 40 and use them as my primary carry weapons.
Hundreds and hundreds of rounds through them without a problem.

You should check out the following site, dedicated site for discussion on both XD and HS2000. The HS2000 is virtually the same gun, less name and warrantee, for quite a bit less money.
