Winchester 94 in hard chrome?

I was browsing through the auction, and saw a 94 in hard chrome. Was this a factory finish at some point? I've looked all over the net, and I can't find anything about it.

    Are you sure it was chrome[?] Modern nickel plating looks very much like chrome. To answer your question, No, chrome plating was not a optional finish for any Winchester lever action.

    The listing states "hard chrome". The picture looks interesting, especially after seeing some pics of the Marlin 94 in stainless. Thanks for the reply!

    It was re-done by some aftermarket refinisher.
    Hard chrome is a great and durable finish.

    Haven't seen the picture of this one, but I just wanted to add that there are some 94 Winchesters out there that were factory chrome. However, the factory finish was "black chrome" not the shiney silver chrome. I can't remember exactly, but I seem to recall Winchester doing this sometime in the early 1960s. It looks like a really good, dark blue job. The problem is that once you crack that finish, for example to install a sight or scope, it will eventually begin to flake off. Some Winchester collectors consider it an interesting novelty. They should be able to tell us more and offer some exact dates. Good luck -- Steve

    Some gunsmiths will chrome a post 64 mod 94 as they don't take to reblueing.I'm just talking about the receiver.The barrel will reblue OK.
