.45 ACP 1911 Rifle

Greetings,

Just picked up an Essex 1911 lower with a SAN COL MAR Idustries 16" barrel and slide, with rifle stock. Also came with matching numbered standard barrel and slide. Trying to get some info about this to expand my knowledge about my new toy...

  John, I believe SAN COL MAR made GI replacement slides and barrels for military in late 1950s,1960s and early 1970s. I believe all of their slides and barrels were serial numbered. They also made your 1911a1 carbine conversion kit(16" barrel and stock with mainspring housing). The stock is only legal(on the gun)with the 16" barrel. Not sure about the 16" barrel without the stock.
