Hey Savage 99 Experts, a question
Did Savage make the takedown model 99 in 308 Winchester? If so anybody have one to sell? If not can any of the existing caliber takedown models be rechambered for 308Win? Any help would be appreciated!

As for #3, I suppose anything is possible with the application of enough money, time and persistance. On the other hand you would be taking something such as a .300 savage, which probably will have some collector value and rebarrelling, which will make the cost that much higher and tossing most of the value you started with back down to a run of the mill since now it's a chop job. May or may not have to change the extractor and possibly alter the magazine (takedowns were
probably all rotary). The later 99's were capable of contolling .308 and .358 pressures but not aware if the earlier versions were because of steel types, qualities. Overall, this would be a unique, expensive project, in my opinion.0
