    Hi Dave,
If the pistol is marked " Portsider", it was manufactured by Falcon Firearms in Northridge, CA. Falcon was created by the former owner of Randall Firearms, Ken Lau and his son, Dennis Lau. Randall was the first firearms company to make a true "mirror image" left handed 1911-A1 pistol. When Randall went out of business in 1985, Ken and his son moved the magazine production line and all the remaining left hand parts to a facility in Northridge and tried to continue production there under the name "Falcon Firearms". They used the "Portsider" name for their left hand 1911-A1. Randall never used that term in reference to their left handed pistols. They used the same names as the right hand models, but used a "B" prefix in the model numbers, instead of the "A", as in the right hand versions. Those model numbers were never marked on the guns, only on the end flap of the boxes they came in. Falcon Firearms stayed in business for several years, I believe 5 or so, and then, as far as I know, ceased production.
    Hope this helps, Mike
