Glenfield 60
Hello, I have a Glenfield model 60 that has a jamming problem. The bullits kick up to high when they are fed through the feedthroat and jam. Could the feedthroat be worn out or is it something else? Thanks. You say the mag follower, is that a shim of sort that the tube slides into? I noticed that the tube is pretty loose at the end by the receiver.

I will start by saying that I am not really a gun person,(I'd rather be holding a fishing rod) but I have a Glenfield Model 60 (Serial 21411061) that was given to me by my grandfather. I havent seen many of these guns but the ones I have seen have just a plain wood stock, but mine has an engraved stock with squirrel and oak leaves in it. Ive never seen another one like it. I've had the gun for about 10 years and have never fired it. I had it taken apart and cleaned about 4 years ago and it has been stored since. All that said, I have a couple questions....how old is my gun?...does the engraved stock make it anything special?...is there any value to this gun other than the great sentimental value it holds to me? Thanks in advance for any help u can give. 0 -
Hello, I have seen several with the squirrel (most of the other Glenfield and Marlin models had it too). They are good guns, not much value though. Even if it was super mint with box only like $100.00, but usually around $60.00-$80.00.
Hope this helped,
Michael

I knew it probably wasnt worth a whole lot monetarily but I didnt realize that the engraved stock was so common. Is there anyway that I can find out the age of the gun though? I'm not really sure how long my grandpa had it before he gave it to me. I would guess the serial number would tell? Like I said though I dont know a whole lot about firearms. Thanks for your help. 0 -
Hello, I am sure some one here can help you much more on the age than I can so I will leave that to them. I could only guess at best, not having the resources to find that out.

The Marlin model 60s starting with serial # 21 were made in 1979.
