putting 2pc grips on a SAA
How do you put 2 pc grips on a SAA that came with 1pc grips and make them stay in place?? Thanks!

It depends. Who made the grips you want to put on?
Colt makes their SAA grips oversize, as there are slight differences in the shape of Colt grip frames. They must be fitted to the individual gun; a single screw holds them tightly in the correct position. Colt's Custom Shop will do this, but most gunsmiths have the training.
Since you have questions, you probably should have this done by a professional.

I haven't done this yet, but will soon be fitting 2 piece grips on a Mexican Colt copy. I have read that you need to make a wooden piece that will fit inside the grip frame, epoxy it in place, then drill for the escutcheon screw. You could also drill the lower part of the frame for a roll pin that extends thru the frame on both sides, then drill (carefully) the grip panels to fit. I have done this by leaving the pin out, and using the hole itself as the locater to drill the panels, holding them firmly in exact position. Just drill far enough so grips fit over the pin...1/8-3/16" or so. Emery

First thing needed for altering SAA to two piece grip is to install a locater pin in the hole provided, if the pin is not installed the grips will not stay stable. 0 -

That's OK Jody C.; the nice thing about this forum is the diversity of opinions and methods expressed by those who know what they are talking about. I'm always learning something new. I wasn't aware of the locater hole in the Colt grip frame, the gun I am trying to put back in shooting shape has a repro grip frame of some sort and no hole. Emery
