Remington Rand 1911
Where can I get a slide stop/release(whatever you want to call it) for a remington rand, 1911, .45? The pistol is entirely original and I want an original piece to replace the broken one. Thanks.

I inherited a 1911 that the serial # dates to 1919. It has a remington rand slide on it. Question is : Are all the slides interchangeable and is there any benefit to swapping for the correct one? There is nothing special about the gun. Just curious........... 0 -
This is just my personal opinion, so take it for what it's worth to you. I don't own a firearm I am not willing to shoot. If you never plan on reselling it for a profit or reselling it at all then why worry about it? Shoot it.

These guns generally sell in the $500-1,200 range, depending upon condition & originality. I don't know what "very good" means to you, but collectors rate condition by percentage of finish remaining. You might want to have someone knowledgeable take a look at it & tell you exactly what you have there.
If, as I suspect, your gun is a rebuild, it won't matter if you shoot it, even often. However, if it has all original parts & original finish, & has at least 95% of the finish remaining, I would be reluctant to fire it often for fear of lowering its value.

Shooting it once in a while won't hurt it or take away from the value. I would replace the recoil spring though because if the one in it is original its week & this could cause rapid frame damage or cracks just shooting it a little now & then.(save the old one & keep with the gun) 0 -
As far as I'm concerned the only way to truly enjoy a gun is to shoot it!

I have a RR 1911 too... It was given to me as a gift and I love it. The gun is in about 90% and I didn't hesitate one minute before taking it to the range... as stated before make sure you maintain it as you shoot and enjoy it. I was very surprised at the accuracy... I always heard stories of the "slop" being detrimental to accuracy but this thing is much more accurate than my Colt factory enhanced Officers ACP... 0 -
The Remington Rand 1911A1 was one of the finest pistols manufactured
during WW11. In the condition that you have, shoot the heck out of it and enjoy. Prices will remain the same. 1010 -
If as you described it, shoot to your hearts content. Just be carefull if you got any 1944 ammo with it. Best to buy some non-corrosive and go for it-Bob
