.44 Ruger w/7 1/2" barrell
Hello, I have the option to buy a .44 Ruger with a 7 1/2" barrell. It is for my husband for Christmas. I have no idea what a handgun should cost much less what make or model is better than another. I know he wants a .44 and I know in Maryland it must have at least a 6" barrell to be legal for hunting. But I don't know what I should have to pay for one. This one is used but in great condition.

don't know about maryland but here in east texas the run at least $300 in 80% up from individuals, dealers want about $400 - hope this helps

What kind of Ruger? Is is a Blackhawk or a Redhawk. Is it blue or stainless steel?

could be Super Blackhawk, Redhawk, Super Redhawk , Bisley or a Vaquero or a Bisley Vaquero all where made in 44 mag 0 -
I'm selling my Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum 7.5", blued, in very nice condition, considering it was carried regularly by a "trick shooter",
then sat in a closed vinyl bag for 15 years.
The best I can get for it is about $220-240.
The "blueing" along the edge rim of the cylinder is worn off, showing the steel beneath (which I keep oiled) and there is wear at the tip of the barrel. Same thing. Keep it clean and oiled, and there is no problem.
Don't let the clerk sell you any fancy cleaning kits. Just buy a silicone cloth for now ($4) to keep the fingerprints off, and let hubby buy the cleaning stuff.
In some parts of the country you might find a nice one for under $200, maybe $150.
Depends on how bad they want to sell.

A new one in blue is under $400.

When an ad says "rings", I think that means scope rings. I don't think I'd ever have my face close enough to a handgun to use a scope ring, but I see them like that all the time.
So you can see, the price for a new one is not hundreds higher than a used one.
I personally prefer a gun with a little "character" which comes from a few years of handling.
