Iver Johnson 20 gauge
I recently acquired a 20 gauge, double barrel, Hercules grade, Serial number 12055, Iver johnson shotgun. Can someone tell me how old it is and what kind of shells are safe to shoot?
Thanks,
Lighty

20's command a premium. they are all safe to shoot modern ammo. the herc came in around the 20's and they were built up into and past the war (44-47.) nice little gun. beavertail FA? $$$ching. if it has ejectors or vent rib...you got a rare pup. PG stock is more. straight is less. single or double trigger? oooo what id give for a SST 20 iver j! or even a 28 and 410! look for cracks in the wood on the sideplate area behind the frame above the triggers. buttplate should have an owl on it and the grip cap should have the words iver johnson top and bottom. if it had a pad put on, deduct $$$. i dont have my blue book with me, maybe someone can chime in and help!

BOBSKI,
You used some terms I am not familiar with. Such as, "beavertail FA"? "PG" Stock is more and straight is less? "SST"? "$$$ching"?
Can you help me and break the code?
Thanks,
Lighty
