    What are the advantages and disadvantages of barrel lenght of a shot- gun lets say the same choke 28" barrel vs 30" barrel???

    From the cylinder gap to the end basically. On autos, rifles, and shotguns its from the breech to the end. Don't ask me why they do it this way, it baffles me too[:D]

    You got it right at 4" . Revolvers are measured by measuring the complete length of the barrel. Hope this helps.

    I've seen people from Governmental Regulatory Agencies stick a cleaning rod down the bore, push it into the cylinder, and measure the resulting length. Dunno why they would include the extra, but maybe those few inches count for something.
