getting the barrel clean
I have a brand new colt AR15A2 R6601 I have run a new bore brush with hoppes cleaning solvent down it about 15 times.I then run a clean patch down it and it is really black Then i run a new patch with cleaning solvent it is barley black then i run a cleand bore brush with a patch and i can get it clean. Then i run a new new patch with solvent on it down the bore and it is very little black on it. Then I clean the bore brush with solvent degreaser each time then I put hoppes solvent on the bore brush run it down the bore. Then i run a new patch down the bore and it is black as before.I have done this about 15 times with the same results. This weapon has only been shot at the factory. Please help with m cleaning dilema.Thanx!

Like Buddyb said too much brushin and solvent. Hoppe's has amonia in it which is probably attackin your brass or bronze brush causing you to deposit the black phumph into the bore. When you get that clean patch out, quit. A little WD40 sprayed down the bore, then put it away. Next time out, run some laquer thinner through the bore on a patch to disolve the WD, then dry patch it out and your ready to go.
You don't need to buy so many brushes, lots of patches. The trick in cleaning is let the chemicals do the work. Wallee0 -

I use the Blue Wonder cold gun bluing stuff, and it works well enough (except on a stubborn redone bolt-handle, where it seems to wear off) but I never thought about doing the bore with the cleaner.... 0 -
I've never used Blue Wonder but MPro-7 is phenomenal.
