INFO ON SHOTGUN
I have an old shot gun I would like some info on and a value.
Its condition is about 80%-85% I would guess,the only area that is not in good condition is the stock...inside where the triggers assembly fits there is a part of the stock that has cracked and make the stock a little loose. Also some very light rust pitting on the barrels,otherwise its in good condition
It's a side by side with double triggers.
On each side it is engraved with a bird dog.
On the top of the reciever under the left barrel its stamped with the serial no. 40XXX PAT'D
and under the right barrel its stamped with
a 12.
On top of the left barrel its stamped with Western Arms Corp.Ithaca,NY between two arrows.
Ontop of the right barrel its stamped Long Range gun between two arrows.
On the bottom of the left barrel its stamped LHH 4+ and the serial no.
On the bottom of the right barrel its stamed LLH 2+ 2 3/4 chamber.

I am seeking information on a single barrel, 12 ga., break top shotgun. The maker is Andrew Fryberg & Sons MFG Company. It shows the company was out of Hopkinton, Mass. It appears the date of manufacture was 1908. The patten date shows 6-30-1900? and the
serial # is 14237. The model is listed as "THE TRAVELLER". It appears there is some type of take down lever on the left side of the receiver. Most of the blueing has taken on a brown color. The gun appears to be in fair to good condition. Could anyone provide any general information on the gun, the use of the fold out lever on the receiver, value, etc. I assume from the gun's model name it is made to break down and that has something to do with the lever that folds flush into the receiver when not in use. Thanks.

Found nothing specific on "The Traveller". Got a little history on the Fyrberg company.
He was a long time employee of Iver Johnson, ( patentee for many firearm related designs ) who went into the gun business with his sons making inexpensive shotguns. This was in 1896, the business was in existence for only a short period of time, till 1907.0 -
andrew fryberg is kind of a forgotten man in firearms history. i have a list of 26 firearms patents dating between 1886 and 1904 and i haven't found all of his patents yet. at some time in his life he worked for iver johnson, h&r, davis-warner (here he helped with the developement of their short lived semi-automatic pistol)and probably mossberg. his own company was shot lived i would guess because he was more of a craftsman than business man. his mosst famous patent which he was the sole patentee was the iver johnson transfer bar ignition system or as they called it 'hammer the hammer' this was done in 1896.
