11-87 Problem

On occasion my 11-87 will not feed the last round in the magazine. The bolt locks back, just like it would if it was empty. That is the only time it does it, on the last round. It is only a couple or three years old, and I keep it clean.

  Bolt will not lock open. Worked fine when last used two years ago. Completely disassembled and cleaned. Even tried swapping out a trigger group from an 1100 that works fine but still won't lock open.Any suggestions on a cure or an explanation of exactly how the bolt is locked very much appreciated.

  I'd have to agree with headzilla, either a weak/broken spring, or you could just have some crud close to the receiver that doesn't impede the shells as they come back but it might stop that plunger in there. I'd take it apart and take the magazine spring and plunger out and clean and inspect it. I'd say there's a 95% chance that one of those things will be the culprit...

  rordog, be sure that the gas ports are clear, and replace the magazine spring with a new one. I think that'll fix the problem. Good advice from BH also.
