Are You saying that You have an ENFIELD Model 1917, made by Winchester? I want to be sure that We're talking about the same gun........

I beleive that is correct. Has the dogleg bolt, and the side safety of the Enfield. Is drilled and tapped for side scope mount, and very poor attempt at an ebony tip on foreend of stock. Serial# in the 494,ooo. Thanks for the time and help. GW.

Yes, Winchester did make 1917 Models in 30-06 cal. They, as well as Remington and Eddystone.
With all the modifacations the rifle has there is no collector value, just shooting value. I don`t know where you live but around my neck of the woods a chopped up gun like this one would be hardpressed to bring 200$.
