beretta m21a question
Hello, I am new to the forum and maybe someone can help me out. I purchased a new Beretta m21a not too long ago and put about 200 rounds though it so far without a problem. When I returned home from the range today I noticed the safety was stuck on "safe" and I could not cock the hammer. (not a good thing) I dropped the mag and began to take it apart. I noticed there is a little part called the safety spring plunger that basically acts as the lock for the 2 positions. It was out of wack so I reset it, put the gun back together and worked the safety a number of times and it locked up again. Is this a common problem or does this sound like it is defective? Thank you

This isn't the first time I've heard of this on the 21, but I never had it happen to me when I had my 21. I don't know how common it is, but I've heard that about several of Beretta's sub-compacts. Hopefully someone else can answer your question more directly.

Kid..... I have 2 Beretta 21's and have not had that problem with either. It sounds like the spring might be bad.
I would suggest contacting Beretta. Since the gun is new, you could send it to them for repairs. Even if it were not new, most manufacturers will fix a broken gun for free.

Thanks for your help. Upon further inspection I noticed the grip was not holding the safety lever flush against the reciever. The safety would walk off the reciever about a 1/16 of an inch causing the plunger to hang up. Grip is either warped or not molded correctly. Beretta said they will replace F.O.C.! Thanks again.
