  the h&r model 349 is the deluxe version of the model 348. the model 348 was manufactured between 1949 and 1954 and the model 349 was manufactured between 1953 and 1955.
  
  the difference between the two models was the fancy stock and the adjustable choke of the model 349.
  
  both of these guns were furnished to sears & roebuck co. for sears to sell under the j.c.higgins brand
