What should I buy and why ?

I hunt in Va and WV and shoot deer under 200lbs fox and other long range game, ground hog

I don't feild hunt I like it thick
100 yards is a long shot for me but I hunt with a 25.06
And will take a shot at 400 yards I tried a 7mm-08 and did not like it
I also shoot a 30-06 sometimes but it is not flat
my scope is a 3.5X10X50 leupold

Mr. Hill,my preference is 30 cal.only because I've had good results with this caliber.There has always been arguements over 270win/30-06 for as long as I can remember.This will probably continue in the shorties as well.Either choice will work fine,just my .02,thanks for listening,Bob.

I guess the choices will always be up to the individual wanting to purchase the newest and fastest cartridge or the current newest twist. If your hunting that close, why go with a magnum? One thing I have found is the smaller gun shops very seldom stock the wildcats or the newer cartidges. I would think that the 25-06 should be a flat shooting cartridge, similar to the .270Win.
