Rem. 710 problem

So I bought my dad a Rem. model 710 bout a year ago because he needed a bolt gun. Chose the 710 for value mostly, and it had not gotten bad reviews that I had seen. I realize that there is no substitute for good quality, and in the long run it is better to spend a little more for the one that will last...but hindsight 20/20 and so on.

Here's the problem, and let me know if anyone has had the same experience and/or knows the solution. He has now gone through 2 scopes. Both broke something inside making it impossible to get a clear feild of vision when you increase power. The scope is clear at 4x but when you crank it to 7 it is imediately blurry. Both scopes are Bushnell which we have never had a problem with. The first scope came with the gun from Rem. and the second scope, sharpshooter model I think, has faithfully served him for over a decade on his Rem 7600 pump '06. Yes, both rifles in question are .30-06
Any ideas? I haven't been on the site for a while, so if this was discussed, just point me to the topic...

    I really don't see how this could be blamed on the gun. I'm not a big fan of the Model 710, but I don't think the gun has anything to do with this problem. It could be a problem with the rings or something along that line.

    Like TD said, rings and mounts. Could be loose, could be misaligned, could be mismatched, etc. Either tyr some different ones or have someone that knows what there doing (not the clerk at Wally-world) take a look at it.
    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    Hello, the first problem with the 710 was it was made. Your problem sounds like what the other members have stated.

    Yeah, my advice is to get rid of that thing, and either save up for a 700, or get a savage or something. I think they're about the same price with a scope and stuff. About two weeks after I bought the 710, the mag latch broke and they made me send back the whole rifle. I went with a 700 BDL and never looked back

    Every body knows I love my Bushnell products but that scope that came on the gun is very low end and can shake apart pretty easily. Bushnell does have a great warrenty dept. though call them and see if they will help you out. There customer service number is 1-800-423-3537

    Thanks for the input. Dad has replaced the scope on the 7600 with a Leupold, has plans to replace the 710 with a 700 or an Harrington and Richardson, and has sent the Bushnells to their Bushnell home for repair.
