Butler Creek Barrel

I've finished building a Ruger 10/22 mag. Aftermarket stock Volquartsen trigger, on and on. I put a Butler creek "Carbon Tri-port Barrel on it and it functions and shoots perfect. Here's the rub, I noticed today that the 'plastic' covering the outside of the barrel, about a quarter of an inch in front of the stainless part where it mounts to the reciever has a crack all the way around it, with one crack going longways from the stainless to the afore-mentioned crack. Anything to worry about?
