Do Lubed bullets make less noise/recoil?
I shot a Sako Warbird last year with 3 different bullets (130,160 & 165 Grain). Never noticed much difference in any of them other than the Match bullet sucked for hunting. All were extremely loud.
Now I am shooting another Sako Warbird with a different bullet. It is a lubed lazerhead bullet and the recoil does not seem as bad (could be the recoil pad) and the noise does not seem as loud. Can this be from the bullet or did I just get used to the noise? Please type loud so I can hear you. Thanks.

LIKE THE MAN SAID...you just acclimated...Lubricated Bullets {so I've been taught} only keep the Lead from building up in the barrel as fast...

HOW ABOUT THE POSSIBLILTY THAT THE JACKETED BULLETS WERE FIRED AT A MUCH HIGHER VELOSITY THAN THE LEAD BULLETS?
Sorry about shouting but if you read his post that's what he asked for.0 -
These are molycoated I believe and one of the things it warned about when loading was excessive speed. I never heard of that before but it is loaded fairly mild (for a warbird) and flies really fast. That might be the key, less powder for the same performance or better?

The noise isn't really coming from the bullet (except for the tiny sonic boom when it passes the sound barrier) it's coming mostly from all that burning powder and pressure blowing out of the muzzle.

I understand that the bullet itself does not nake the noise. I was thinking that the lubed bullet was sliding through the barrel with less friction (like it was greased), hence less pressure & less noise.

There's also the possibility you failed to use ear protection the first time, and now everything is quieter!![8D]
