Centurian rifle ?? INFO. PLEASE

I looked at a Centurian bolt action rifle in 223 at a gun shop,used. The salesman? said it came from Vermont and was a custom made gun.I haven't had any luck finding any information on the company.Any help will be apprecated,thanks Andy Kepert ,aekepert@yahoo.com

    I found a reference that states that "Centurion" was a trade name used by Golden State Arms on some of the commercial type Mauser action rifles they sold.
    The problem is that Golden State Arms went belly up in the mid 60's. Believe this was before any bolt action .223's were on the market?
    Perhaps somebody has rebarreled/customized one of their actions in the intervening years?

    I am pretty sure that Century Arms of Vermont, a major importer of arms and surplus was selling a limited run of bolts action rifles that they termed the "Centurian". This was 6 or 8 years ago and if my memory serves they line included .223 caliber. They were in no way a "custom rifle", they went for about $200 to $300 apiece at the time and were intended as low end hunting rifles. As to Golden State Arms, they were in Calif.

    Centurion Sporters were sold for a while by Century Arms Intl. To my knowledge, there were never any .223 caliber. I bought the last barrelled actions they had and finished them and sold them this fall. The rifles used mostly VZ24 actions and were in .270 & .30/06. There were also some P-14/17 Enfield actions made into 7mm Rem mag and .300 Win mag. I'd venture it would be tricky to get the full sized mauser action to feed .223 ammo reliably.
