    Hello Geri...

As Hangfire alluded to, the Winchester Model 54 was never factory chambered for the 30 ARMY (a.k.a. 30-40 Krag). The Winchester Model 1895 lever action and Model 1885 Single-shot were the only Winchester rifles factory chambered in that cartridge.

Hangfire... Say this out loud "I am a very bad person because I sold my Winchester Winder Musket". Repeat once every 10 minutes during you waking hours until your go buy another one just like it[}:)]

I have two of them... a Second Model high-wall in 22 LONG R, and a Model 87 in 22 SHORT (the low-wall variation)[:D]. I also own another Model 87 that was rechambered to 22 Hornet sometime in the 1930s, which I subsequently had rechambered in 22 K-Hornet... sweet little varmit rifle[^]

    Does having a 1873 44-40 Musket w/new bayonet[appears unfired-incredible!!]and an 1894 Deluxe 38-55, PG checkered Ulrich #10 Engraved w/letter 98% and a bunch of other Winnies get me off the hook?Bob

No... not completely, but it does elevate you to being one of the good guys though[^] Sounds like you have some really nice Winnies... but I didn't here you say anything about having any Model 1885 Single-shots[:(]

    p.s. I keep a Model 97 upstairs[}:)]

Since you are nameing rifles chambered in .30-40 Krag, you missed the Remington-Lee bolt action and the Remington Rolling Block and no, the Winchester Model 54 was never chambered for the .30-40.

Thanks for the input. I didn't think the 54 was ever chambered for the 30-40. May have been a custom job, but why? Never factory. I have seen a 95 mauser in 303 brit. but that was a custom job. Thanks again.

OK, a 97's cool if you don't need the flesh on the top of your right thumb[I keep a 20" Riot in the shop[8D]]Nope, no Win s.shots except for a 410 M 37.A couple of Martinis,a Rem, No.4,An English Rook Rifle,Stevens Favorite, some I can't remember, and a like new 1884 trapdoor w/ramrod bayonet.Don't ask me to list my repeaters. The singles would absolutely pale in comparison!![8D][8D]Bob
