.300 Weatherby?
I inherited a .300 weatherby. I know that it is at least 20 years old, and in mint condition. Is there a site that I can punch in the serial# to find out what year it was made and it's current value?

I have a book on Weatherby's that gives production date by serial numbers up through 1989. If you will provide the serial number I will check to see if it is in the book. I am assuming you mean the caliber is .300 Weatherby Magnum. I will also need to know if it is a Mark V. The pre Mark V .300 magnums were made using receivers made by other companies. The Weatherby Vanguard model was produced in .300 Winchester Magnum. 0 -

Upon further review, it is a .300 win mag. Vanguard VGS. Serial #
VS13285. Also has a leather strap and Leupold 3X9 scope.0 -
Herschel - Just so you know, the Vanguard is now produced in 4 or 5 Weatherby Magnum calibers, the most energetic of which is the .300 Weatherby Magnum. I think they go .240, .257., .270 and 7MM Weatherby Magnums - plus the .300 Weatherby Magnum. I'm not positve of the .240, but I'm sure of the rest.
Wal-Mart, here in Orygun, sells the Stainless Synthetic Vanguard in Standard and Weatherby Magnum calibers for $469.00, plus $10.00 transfer fee. The Synthetic, blue steel rifles in all those calibers are $369.00 plus transfer.
The rifles are made in Japan by Howa, and are great shooters. A tremendous bargain for hard hitting weapons in Weatherby Magnum calibers.
There are a couple in my future, to add to my Weatherby Mark V Deluxe rifles.

Z28, The book says the rifle was in production from 1984 to 1989. Serial numbers started at VS0001 and end with VS17870. This should give you a pretty good guestimate as when yours was produced. 0 -
