Ruger 357 Bass Anglers Sportsman Soc. GUN?

Hello Ruger experts, a buddy of mine in northern Texas purchased brand new back in 1983 or 84 a BASS Ruger 357 nickel hand gun, this serialized gun is one of 1,000 made, still in original box, unfirerd, all paperwork, Cherry Wood show case, BASS, Bass Anglers Sportsmans Society, commemorative handgun, can anyone out there help me to place a value on it or knows of a person or shop that specializes in this type of item? He is ready to sell it soon. Thank you all for your time.[/blue]

    There is no collector interest in "special edition" guns. No shop specializes in them, & generally the only people willing to buy them are folks looking for a good price on a "shooter".

    As a general rule, the best that one will bring is 10% over the price of the "plain" version of the same gun.

    Let your buddy list it on the Gunbroker auction site; that will tell us for sure. Hey, I could be wrong; maybe he will get twice what he paid.

    thank you very much for your expertise, we have never listed a gun on gunbroker.com, do you have to be a licensed FFL broker to list a gun on this site?

    no you do not, If you sell the gun it will need to be shipped thru a FFL holder , the FFL on the buyers end will do all of the paper work, handguns can be shipped by non FFL holders by UPS or FEX , only FFL holders can ship handguns in the mail

    thank you very much for your time, I will tell my friend, he was hoping his investment had gained some nice value, like the other gentleman said, put it on the auction and see what happens, I think he was hoping I could at least find on that had been sold recently to give him some kind of ball park price range to expect.
