9mm verse 40 cal mags
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a 9mm high capacity mag in a beretta 40 cal. I have tried the mags from a beretta 9mm it fits fine, cycles fine by hand. It's hard to find pre-ban mags for a 40 cal and from what I can see it should work fine

The feed lips are too small to use the 9mm mag in the .40 but I have been told you can modify the .40 to feed the 9mm rounds.
Personally, I dont think it's worth the trouble to get 2or3 more rounds in the .40cal.
Seeing the .40cal rounds are a little fatter in diameter I don't think there will be a big advantage.

The feed lips on a Beretta 92 40 and 9 are the same width. I have both Model 96 40 S&W and 92 9mm models. I have shot them both ways. Other companies have different widths on their mags, but for some reason Beretta does not. I don't know if this is true for any of the other Beretta models that are made in 40 and 9. I have Taurus 99 and 101 models and their feed lips are different. 0 -
I have evaluated numerous mags on this very issue. If they are genuine hi-cap Beretta 9mm mags, using .40 should be no problem. Mec-Gar mags are also interchangable. I have found some generic mags work, and some do not. Eagle mags are unquestionably no good for .40. Ramline doesn't work either, even though they are excellent for 9mm. The 10-round 9mm Beretta mags don't work for .40, as the mag bodies are different. I've never tried Pro-Mag, and would like to hear of any experiences.
I've never had a problem going the other way, 9mm has always woked well out of .40 mags.
