WAFFENFABRIK STEYR Hunting Rifle
I have a hunting rifle made in Germany that looks like a Mauser. Chambered for a 7mm.06 (.280 Rem.) Name on the side of the receiver sayers WAFFENFABRIK STEYR with the #5147 stamped on the bolt, barrel and reciever. It has a Carl Zeiss scope and both appear to be approx. 45-50 years old. Any and all information about this gun and scope and manufacturer would be appreciated. Beautiful weapon.

An addition to WAFFENFABRIK STEYR Hunting Rifle. If possible, send info to dacwilt142@aol.com 0 -
Unfortunately with the information you provided us, the only factual thing we can tell you about your rifle is that the receiver was manufactured by Steyr in Austria.
With out specific information regarding other markings such as proofs and national crests and/or high quality close up photos, there no way we can help you.
Perhaps if you could locate a KNOWLEDGEABLE collector or dealer close to your home, for a hands-on appraisal, you would have a better chance for answering your questions.0 -
The 7mm'06 is NOT the same as the .280. The 7mm Express IS the same as the .280...If anyone has info on the 7mm'06 please answer....Thanks, The Big Mac
