Will the new Ranch models 223 also chamber the 5.56 NATO?

Dano is right. If you want mags that function go with the factory ones. The aftermarket mags dont always function. You can find some that do and some that dont. I always heard promag was good but mine only go into the gun if I leave a round or two out.

I've used Thermold mags for many years. In fact, I use them exclusively. They are virtually indestructable nylon. Standard issue for the Canadian Military. Built like the Orlite mags used by the Israelis'.

Dano- I think they are much less prone to damage than the metal ones.[Hate to see you selling any guns, but been there as well-Bob]

lexi 2-If Mecgar makes Mini 14 mags, they're probably good stuff. They make the factory mags under contract for more than one well known firearms company, including SIGARMS.

Hangfire-Are you sure you're not referring to AR15/M16 mags instead of Mini 14's?

Hey TXS- I was recommending Thermold as the mfg. They make them in both configurations[or at least they did].I use them for my Mini-14's.They furnished them for the Canadian M-16's.For my Car-15, I use Orlites.-Bob

PMI. 99.9% as good as factory.

I have had good luck with the PMI and Thermold mags. They aren't cheap though (way cheaper than Ruger). However, believe it or not the 35 round Eagle mags work really well in my Ranch Rifle too. Don't waste your money on USA or other cheap steel ones.

PMI! The best of the aftermarket mags, in fact I had heard that PMI was the subcontractor that made the factory Ruger mags. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm not familar with the quality of Mecgar mags for the Mini-14 but they do exist. I noticed a few for sale a while back on Sturmgewher which is mostly a NFA board.

I've had mixed results with Mecgar mags in my Uzi.
