S&W 1911?

I love the 1911 style pistols. I really like the S&W 1911. This will be my first 1911 handgun. Is this a good choice? Would it be better to spend the extra money on a Wilson Combat or a Kimber?

  I dont own a Smith 1911, but have shot it and liked it a lot.
  
  A friend of mine is a Smith rep and has all the newest goodies on hand at any given time. When the 1911 first hit the street I got to fire about 50 rds thru it. It would be a good choice.
