Beretta SA 2nd stot w/o slide? (Tomcat)

HOW DOES THE TRIGGER COCK FOR THE SECOND SHOT WITHOUT SLIDE-OPERATED BLOWBACK?

I thought the slide chckedf the trigger ?!?

  The Beretta does have a slide that comes back & cocks the hammer. The slide doesn't have an extractor to remove the empty case from the chamber; rather, the "blowback" of the fired case pushes the slide to the rear.

  I was examining one yesterday, looking at the tilt-up barrel.
  The guys said what was to load the first shot.
  If it has a slide, which got past me at the time, then you should be able to load the first round with the slide?
  
  Incidently, the barrel has heavy groves. This is to compensate for the shoutness of the barrell?
