I am offered a Model 12 20 gauge Winchester shotgun s/n 287xxx for $150. Old gun that was overhauled some years ago with new wood, some new internal parts, barrel cut to 20", refinished and due storage neglect needs refinishing again but not pitted. Wood is excellent. Any info or comments appreciated. Thanx

Well the price would be acceptable, because it will be worth $150 in parts. The first thing I should point out this is an early Md 12 20ga, and it has a short chamber, it is a 2 1/2 inch chamber. Unless the chamber was opened up when it was reblued. Most gunsmiths stamped 2 3/4 on the barrel, look closely. It's to bad that the barrel was cut and the original wood is not on it. I don't see the value going up any since it's not original anymore. But like I said there are a lot of parts on it that would sell for at least your original investment of $150. The gun was made in 1922. Regards Dave
