Question about self-consuming paper cartridges
I've been reading some things about nitrate-soaked self-consuming paper cartridges for Sharps blackpowder rifles. Apparently, this was a late muzzleloader-era innovation that significantly reduces reloading time/trouble.
I was wondering if anyone had any information about this. I'd like to see if I could use 'em in my Colt 1860 New Army.

Flash paper is made by soaking paper in a potassium nitrate (saltpeter at your local foodstore) and water solution and then letting it dry.
Experiment a little as I have not seen them used for pistols, just rifles, but the idea seems sound.
