There have been earlier threads suggesting that this was an inevitable offspring of the cartridge and I agree and will be first in line when Winchester or Ruger or Marlin announces such. Was wondering if anyone had extrapolated an average MV for this round from a 16" barrel based on the MV from the revolver. I'm not enough of a ballistician to attempt.

  With that large of an expansion ratio I don't think there would be much gain. By not much gain I would say about 200 FPS as the maximum or there abouts. I would like to have one built on a Ruger #1 with about a 20 barrel. You could really stoke up some handloads on that action.

  aglore, you could likely get Fox River or SSK to make you a 500 S&W on an Encore action much cheaper
