blueing SS
can a SS barrel be blued to match a regular blued steel gun?

(1) Yes, they can be blued--usually (depending on the alloy of stainless. Some blue better than others, and it's hard to get an exact match to a carbon steel receiver). (2) There are relatively few gunsmiths that do this work (because it requires a separate set-up and there is relatively little call for it). (3) Good alternatives are teflon coating or baked-on paint finishes. (4) Most folks that have a stainless barrel installed like the stainless look and live with them the way they are. 0 -
Brownells sells Oxynate No. 84. They say it works on stainless and cast iron. 0 -
thanks, Brownells sounds worth giving a try

You can also check with companies like Robar or ARS about their metal finishes. I know Robar has a chromium sulfate process for "blacking" stainless items.
