Whats the difference between the Picatinny rail and the Weaver
base?
Will Weaver style rings fit on a Picatinny rail (Serbu BFG50)?

  Yes, Weaver type rings will fit the picatinny mount. Only difference between the two is that the picatinny has a whole bunch more slots for the ring bolts, as compared the the 3 or 4 normally cut on the Weaver single base mount.

  The "Picatinny" slot pattern uses MIL-Std 1913 for specific dimensions and maximum sight possibilities. Higher quality rings will have full square cross bolts to maximise support of the base vs the halfround of the weaver rings.

  Rails are longer so you can move the optics forward or backward if there is a problem with eye relief.
