It has to be either the lips on the magazine or the ramp. Have you tried just slightly squeezing the front of the magazines lips inwards slightly?

Its been my experience with the Springfields that they have to be well broken in.I would fire as much ammo as possible through your gun,and set and rack the slide as much as you can.Hope this helps it has worked for me.One warning your hands can become very blistered from racking the slide.Good Luck!

I would agree that you should try another mag, before anything else. I would try a different brand. I'm not too familiar with the Ultra Compact, but if it uses an Officer's model mag, I believe Wilson Combat makes one, and they are top of the line. If it still happens with that mag, I don't think that is something that is going to work it's way out through use. It sounds like the slide is moving too fast for the magazine to keep up with it. You could try a heavier recoil spring.

Lastly, since it's not doing this shooting one handed, look at your grip.
In a two handed grip, is your weak hand obstucting the slide in any way?

If this does not work, send it back to Springfield, as they have a good customer service department, and a Life Time warranty.
