Browning BDM

If any one has information about this gun or possibly an owners manual, I could sure use it.

  neighbor of mine has offered to sell me a browning bdm...anybody here have any insight into them in terms of problems and things to watch out for? ive already heard that the parts are hard to come by and the firing pins are brittle

  I have an early one with the 15-round magazine. What kind of information do you need?
  
  I bought the gun because I really liked the grip shape and angle. (Being steel, the grip frame can be really thin and still be stong, and therefore the grip diameter is quite small, much like the wonderful shape and size of the High Power.) The double mode is kind of neat as well. I see nothing wrong with being able to switch from traditional double action to double action only. The tip of the magazine base is designed to be used to turn the switch that controls the mode of operation.
  
  Without the gun in hand, I am trying to remember if I felt the safety operated the wrong way. I seem to recall that pushing the safety down, which would be "off" in M1911 terms, decocked the hammer if pushed too far. If that is correct, I think "up" should decock the gun instead "down" so one cannot accidentally decock by disengaging the safety in M1911 fashion. If I am remembering the operation incorrectly (I have not handled the gun in a year or so), please disregard my ramblings on the subject.

  Thanks for the info. You are right. the safety/decocking is backwards.
