What is lake city match brass.Is it better then another brass?

    Lake city brass is excellent for reloading. I have reloaded tons of LC brass.

    The military "match" brass is held to more stringent specifications, and more consistent weight. Other than that, it is pretty much the same as the non-match brass.

    For general purpose use, the regular LC brass works just fine. I have loaded thousands of rounds of both 5.56 and 7.62 LC brass and it works great.

    If you are planning to compete in a high power match shooting bullseyes at 800 to 1,000 yards, then you might want to use match brass, but then you will also want to weigh each bullet and powder charge for consistency.

    Weigh some of that military brass, 30 some years ago I got some once fired Match Military Brass, dug it out last winter and weighed it, threw it away, New Rem Or Winchester brass is not that expensive when you figgure how many times you can reload it. GOOD LUCK

    victorlvlb, Just in case you don't know it, military brass has less powder capacity than civilian made brass. You must use less powder than the loading tables for civilian brass call for or you will experience high pressures.

    I wasn't aware of the high pressure using a regular load of powder.I can buy new brass here fairly cheap.Thank you all for the info and the offers.
