30-06 Ammo for Ruger MK77
Would it be OK to shoot some of the cheap Russian or Korean ammo in my Ruger MK77? The Russian is new ammo, but the other is surplus.

You should be OK, but I'd sure make sure it is non-corrosive... That said, is it really worth shooting inferior ammo through a nice rifle like that? 0 -
RUGER'S TOLERANCES ARE PRETTY TIGHT.IF YOUR JUST GOING TO SHOOT A SMALL AMOUNT OF RUSSIAN AMMO THROUGH IT, IT SHOULD BE O.K. BUT IF YOUR GOING TO SHOOT ALOT OF ROUNDS AND IF THE THE GUN GETS REAL HOT IN THE PROCESS, THE LAQUER IS GOING TO MELT OFF OF THE CASINGS AND EVENTUALLY ITS GOING TO GET TIGHT AND PROBABLY JAM. I USE RUSSIAN IN MY MINI 14 AND MY AK47, BUT THERE'S ENOUGH PLAY IN THE ACTIONS SO THEY DON'T JAM UP. PLUS, IF YOUR GOING TO DO ANY SERIOUS SHOOTING AND YOU WANT ANY KIND OF ACCURACY, RUSSIAN AMMO ISN'T FOR YOU.

I can't see that anybody would want to take a "chance" with a nice rifle!
Makes absolutely "NO" sense to me.
We're not talking an "assault" type, high rate of fire weapon here.
Do your practice with the same ammo you intend to hunt with and you'll prove much more, for not much more cost.

Maybe you should look into starting reloading. Personally I wouldn't put the cheap steel cased ammo thru a barrel that wasn't chrome lined but thats just me. If you do make sure to clean your chamber out really good. A .45 cal pistol brush makes a good chamber brush for a .30-06. 0 -
I generally like to stay away from ammunition that is made with steel cases. The laquer that is applied to the cases tends to gum up the gun.
If you want cheap ammo the stuff from Talon is U.S. manufacture, reloadable, and about $6 a box, plus shipping.
Keep in mind that this stuff is FMJ and cannot be used for huntimg because of it's enability to expand
