S&W 500 Magnum Revolver
Does anyone know if this revolver is available in different barrel lengths? I have only seen it advertised with what looks like an 8" barrel.
Thanks

Mine is 8 3/8 barrel and that's all ive seen them in. Don't think you'd want one with a shorter barrel ouch!!!!!!! Kicks hard enough the way it is. 0 -
The current barrel length for the 500 is 8 3/8", with an overall length of 15" weighing in at 72.5 oz.
Mrmike,,, funny you should mention a 3". I was working for S&W recently at a local shooting sports fair, and just about everyone in line wanted to shoot the model 500. We had 4 of them, and they were kept warm all day with all the use they were getting.
I asked the Smith rep if other barrel lengths were planned, and he said a 3" was in the planning. So, for all you recoil lovers out there, STAND- BY. In my humble opinion, a 5" is about the shortest I would go with this gun.

You know I was thinking that a 5.5 inch barrel would be just about right for this gun. I think it would help the balance. My 6 " 627 always seems just a little too long and the 5 is just a tiny bit too short. I love my 5.5 Rugers[:D]

I think a 5.5" would be a little more packable, even though you would lose a little velocity.

I'm sure that "Ankle" holsters will be available soon! 0 -
Why not just make it a 2", unported, with night sights, and cut for moon clips so you can get off some extra rounds in a hurry? perfect ankle holster gun...

I'd like a 4" model, cause that just seems like the ideal duty carry length. I wonder when they are going to come out with the Jerry Miculek custom 8-shot model? 0
