any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a gun, given to me by grandfather who is an avid collector, many years ago. It was given to him as a gift, he told me it was a "kit gun", and he never took the time to put it together. I have always wanted to complete and give it back to him as a gift but I have never been able to find any information about it anywhere. All I know about it, is what it has on it, it says, Frontier Army on top above the cylinder, and down the barrel it says, for .44 winchester cartridge. The only thing that it has, that looks like it could be a model or serial number is 9827, it also has a crown with an "R" under it and then a "*" with a "B"under that. The only other two legible markings it has are "Belgium" on the bottom inside part of the grip and the cylinder itself has a crown and attached to it underneath a circle with the letters E,L,C. Any help on this would be grealty appreciated.

    These Belgian-made revolvers were popular from c.1880-1920 (at the outside). They were inexpensive, relatively functional, and had very colorful names designed to lure unsophisticated buyers into believing they were getting something they were not.

    I suspect the disassembled revolver was given to your grandfather and referred to as a 'kit gun' simply because it had been disassembed. I do not believe that any were originally offered that way.

    Anyhow, your revolver would be chambered for the .44-40 Winchester cartridge - but I dont think I'd shoot it even it were assembled. They ARE very interesting pieces reminiscient of a bygone era, though, and for that reason alone I would suggest trying to get it back together and displaying it as a cherished gift from your grandfather.

    Below is a link to a picture of a Belgian revolver marked 'Frontier Army' across the top strap. This is chambered in .41 Colt, and actually belonged to a Texas Ranger in the 1890's.

    Thank you very much for the info That is the gun exactly, although I am missing everything for this one except for the hammer, spring and the cylinder, and of course the cast or should I say the gun itself. Where would you suggest I look to find replacement parts for it, and do you think its even possible to find them?
