870 express questions
Is there a way to tell if a receiver is a magnum (3" shell capable) just from the serial number on a Remongton 870 express 12 gage shotgun? Does an "M" at the end of the serial number necessarily mean it is a magnum receiver? I don't have any 3" shells to see if they feed.
I bought an 870 express that is supposedly a full choke but there is no choke tube threaded into the end of the barrel. It is threaded for a Remchoke but nothing is threaded into the barrel. Can the barrel alone be a full choke if it has the Rem choke thread but nothing threaded into it? I think the gun is misrepresented as a full choke if no full choke insert is included. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help.

If there's not a tube in the end of barrel, don't shoot it. You need a choke tube to able to call it a choke of any kind. 0 -
Nope, you have to have a tube in to shoot it. And I THINK all 870 Exp.,s are chambered for 3 in.

Hello, all 12 GUAGE Express 870s are 3 inch capable. However, a 12 "gage" "Remongton" is a mystery to me.

Michael,, We dont hold words spelled wrong against anyone here on this forum. We all know reno was refering to 12 "gauge Remington"
By the way, "gauge" is "au" not "ua".

Hello, I know. I did that as kind of a joke. I was just funning him, didn't mean any harm (my misspelling was to show that).

You should be able to pick up a choke at a local sporting goods store. My local walmart has them, so you might have luck at yours. I think they are about $12, but don't hold me to it.
Yes you gun is capable of shooting 3" magnums. Is should say on the barrel, not the reciever.0 -
M at the end of the SN does mean magnum. 0 -
