Found-barrel for model 97
I have asked for your advise on replacing the barrel on my Winchester, solid frame 97 on the 28th. Thanks for the advise.
I received a call today from a gunsmith with info on brand new barrels for the 97's. They are 26 inches with extractor slots, front sight beads and alignment notches.
These barrels are imports from China. My first question was, "are they metric?". Answer, no, they have American standard threading. They are imported by Interstate Arms Corp. I also was told that the reason the 97 barrels have "dried up" is the popularity of "cowboy shooters". The folks involved in this hobby have used up lots of parts for the old 97's. My question to the experts is. Do you know of the barrels I have just discribed? Are they any good? Any info. is appreciated.

I too would try to get the original barrel fixed first. It would be a shame to put a Chinese made barrel on that fine piece of American history you have. Just my 2cents.[^] 0 -
You might contact Jack Ott - 770 479 7920 - Rimfire Gunworks, P.O. Box 457, Waleska, GA 30183. He can do things that many gunsmiths won't attempt. Hope this helps. Robert in Oklahoma 0 -
