Approximate value of a Browning 12 Ga.
In 1996 I won a Browning gold 12 Guage at a ducks unlimited banquet. It is a beautifully engraved 60th anniversary edition. I have never fired it and the original tag is still on the trigger guard. I realized recently that I would prefer to have a more practical shotgun for my wife to use. My question is how much it might be worth. Does the fact that it is a DU piece increase the value? Does the 60th anniversary increase the value? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

And the good news... It's a real A-5 with engraving.
The bad news is that your gun was made in Japan, it's a 12ga., and D/U means absolutely nothing. Value will be almost exactly the same as a non D/U gun in the same general grade.
I'd go out and shoot the gun and have a ball. Value won't be hurt to a significant degree and you'll have the nicest shooter on the field.

What year did they start making the Browning Gold? Why do you say it is an A-5?
There are people who try and collect the DU guns. If you can't find one of those people it is not worth a great deal more than a regular Browning Gold.

Nord might be remembering the 50th DU anniversery edition which was an A5. With the 60th anniversery, there might be some collector out there who wants it for a collection. Otherwise, Nord has it, as I have a DU Berretta that I actually purchased for less than the one beside it that wasn't a DU. The gold stuff brings questions but rarely any more money unless it is a special factory engraved. Enjoy it as a nice weapon after you ask around either here or gun shows. My guess is it will have the book value for new in box or a little less, probably $650 to $750. 0 -
