old Remington calibers

A local shop has two Rem. model 8's in. One is 30 Rem. one is 32Rem. Are these pretty much obsolete calibers? I did see a guy who advertised 32 Rem at about a dollar a bullet. The guns are in very nice shape. It's a shame to see nice old guns that may never get shot again.

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

    yes ammo for these are getting pretty hard to come by ,but not impossible to get , it just all depends on what you are willing to pay to shoot them, they also made the rifle in 35 rem,

    They quit making .30 Remington in 1997. I believe they quit making .32 Remington in 1977. Most of the ammo dealers sell for quite a bit. I've seen prices like $32 a box from some dealers at gunshows. I have three Model 8s myself. I still find .30 Remington and sometimes even boxes of .32 Remington in small town hardware stores, gun shops, drug stores (true!). It's out there for a decent price, it's just hard to find. Save your brass!.... and reload.

    lead, the .30 Rem. is much easier to come by. The .32 Rem. is scarce and as you said costs about $1 per shot. It can be bought thru Cabellas for about $25, but it will be .30 Rem. formed for .32. The .25 rem. is even harder than .32 rem. to find.[xx(]

    I was at a used bookstore over the weekend and found an old Speer reloading manual. It listed the 32 Remington and 32 Special together. Are they the same round? Weren't Win. 94's chambered for 32 Special? They are a little easier to find.

    32Win is a rimmed cartridge and is easily made from the 30-30Winchester cartridge, and 32Rem is a rimless cartridge that is easily made from the 30Rem (which BTW used to be called 30-30Rem, just to add to the confusion).
    As the internal capacities, operating pressures, and muzzle velocities of the 2 (32Win and 32Rem) are vertualy identical, the reloading data is the same. The same is true of the 30WCF and 30Rem (30-30Win and 30-30Rem).

    The whole thing was done because Remington did not want to offer their guns in the compaitions (Winchesters) cartridge this was fairly typical of that era, both comericial and military.
    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
