Very often, Marlin pump rifles have problems, seems they easily lose some of their inner parts when the gun is separated. Always look at them closely, expecting trouble in that regard.
I personally value them less than similar Winchesters, i.e. 1890, 06, 62.

Gotcha Covered: Had to do some deep digging...but here's what I found..The MARLIN Model 29 Slide Action Repeating Rifle...
Similar to the Model 20, Has a Round 23" Barrel, 1/2 Magazine, only weighs 5 3/4 pounds. The MODEL 37 is the same type except has a 24" barrel and Full Magazine...Made 1913-16....In excellent shooting Condition..$250.00 to $300.00..I'm surprised that there is No listing of the Model 37 in any of My books or in My database....I finally found the Model 37 nestled in with the Model 29 information....Now you know all that I know.....

jkks...
The Marlin line of slide action 22s were never very popular because they were NO WHERE NEAR as good of a design (John Browning's patent) as the Winchester Model 1890 and its siblings, the Model 1906/06 and 62. As rockford mentions, they are often found with problems that can not be easily fixed today. Save your money for a nice conditioned Winchester 1890/90 or 1906/06.

jkks: If you want to know anything at all (I mean everything) about older Marlins, get a copy of MARLIN FIREARMS by Lt. Col. William Brophy. It won't be cheap (there's one on that other auction for $80 right now). But if you already own that Mod 37 and want to trade it in toward a Winchester '90 or '06 (I agree with Bert, Browning really did get it right)e-mail me and maybe we can deal. TIA, Jerry 0 -
